Linux® - Wallet Installer Support

  1. Download the installer program for Linux® - Click with the mouse here: >> Text Wallet - for Linux® (installWalletForLinux.exe) << .

    1. The installer is a binary file, it is not in a "deb" or "rpm" format and therefore is not dependent on a specific distribution.

    2. The installer has been fully tested with Ubuntu® 18.04 LTS - 22.04 LTS; Debian® 9 - 12; and similar Debian® distributions.

    3. The installer should work with most standard Linux® distributions. If you use a distribution outside the listed and tested types, run the installer. If the installer and Digital Wallet function, then you may immediately proceed with receiving XiXcoin®.

  2. After download, you must mark the [installWalletForLinux.exe] file as 'Executable' in the operating system. You must have "super-user", "sudo", or "su" user permissions; complete either 1 OR 2 below:

    1. Using a file-browser (with Caja, Nemo, or other, but not Thunar):

      1. Select the file [installWalletForLinux.exe], then right-click on the file name, then the permissions tab, the select the box 'allow this program to run as a program'.

    2. OR (not 1 & 2), using a terminal window, launch a terminal command-line window:

      1. 'cd Downloads' - change directory to the file location [/home/YourLog-inAccount/Downloads].

      2. sudo chmod a+rwx /home/YourLog-inAccount/Downloads/installWalletForLinux.exe.

  3. Using a terminal window, type in at the command line: ./installWalletForLinux.exe

    1. 'sudo' is not required to run the installer. When prompted by the installer, type in the 'sudo' password for your account.

      1. The password encryption is 40035*2 or 1.180x10182 and is not stored anywhere outside your immediate directory. The password is never stored anywhere else. The software then automatically manages and updates the configuration.

      2. If you change your password, please delete the [sudoPassword.txt] file in the wallet directory, the digital wallet program will ask for the password on the next run or launch.

  4. Follow the installation instructions, the installer handles the 'sudo' user functions.

    1. A program launcher called "XiXcoin® Wallet" will be added to the menu under "Applications, Internet".

  5. Go to the Desktop or the menu and launch the "XiXcoin® Wallet" application.

    1. After the Digital Wallet application starts, follow the on-screen instructions.

    2. Optionally and if you want, the Digital Wallet application can be started from the command line in a terminal by entering [cd /home/YourLog-inAccount/wallet], then [./wallet].
